Jan 2012 - Feb 2013 | Independent Contractor at MacSteel |
II was the Data Migration and Master Data Stream lead for the project. This is a production company in the steel industry that migrated from a homegrown legacy system to SAP ECC6. Data streams that were covered were Vendors, Customers, Materials, Production Planning, FI, Warehouse Management, Plant Maintenance, CRM, HR, etc. I oversaw as well as actively involved in the legacy to SAP mapping of data and the building of ETL workflows to move data to the SAP environment. I also had to train team members of the client in certain aspects around data migration and master data management. Unfortunately, I had to leave the project because of medical reasons (including an emergency neck operation).
Dec 2011 - June 2012 | Independent Contractor at Eskom Subsidiaries |
Originally, I was contracted to manage the master data migration as part of the continuance of the main Eskom project. It was however found that no adequate technical skills existed in the project to specifically look after master data and to perform the necessary de-duplications and cleansing and pre-validations, and this became the focus of the work that I did during this work. Thus, even though I would normally be the stream lead, I had to be the main technical lead as well. This project looked at the migration from third party systems like BaaN and Ability to SAP ECC 6. Streams covered included Vendors, Customers, Materials, Production Planning, Project Systems and including various transactional objects like Stock Balances, Purchase Orders, Open Items, and various others.
Feb 2011 - Dec 2011 | Independent Contractor at Eskom |
I was originally contracted by Ernst & Young during this period as a stream lead for the Data Migration stream as part of the data cleansing effort at Eskom. This was for the Eskom migration project from SAP 4.6 C to SAP ECC 6. This role included the extraction, transformation and loading of SAP 4.6 C vendor data (as well as a Vendor Portal) to SAP MDM and SAP ECC 6. Further to this all the other master data streams were assisted in ensuring that the technical approach used was correct.
2009 - 2010 | Freelance Consulting |
During this period I did freelance consulting for some smaller companies mostly in business analytical areas. I also did business analytical/project management work for Mutual and Federal for their launch of the iWYZE initiative. Training was provided on various IT related as well as Business subjects on an Ad Hoc basis to existing clients.
2008 - 2009 | Director at Global Frontier Holdings |
Me and two partners formed a company to do some work for financial institutions in Africa.
I was the director in charge of Knowledge Management and Business Process Management/Improvement initiatives. I was also the main lead resource in these areas. Where necessary training was provided to the local resources in the relevant areas (Knowledge Management and Business Process Re-engineering). We helped to re-engineer/improve the Business Processes of these banks as well as implement Knowledge Management initiatives for specific areas within these banks. Furthermore, we implemented Business Continuity capabilities for these banks and assisted in providing an interim IT manager for the banks while they were restructuring their IT department (which we also assisted in) and was looking for a new IT manager.
2007 | Independent Contractor to Central Bank of Nigeria |
During 2007 I worked for Atos Origin on a contracting basis as Knowledge Management team leader for the Central Bank of Nigeria. I oversaw doing the related business analysis and then developing a Knowledge Management strategy for the Central Bank. I was also responsible for getting the relevant role players trained up in Knowledge Management and to set up an environment where bank employees can be trained. This project also involved getting the Central Bank to interact with the World Bank, IMF and other central banks on Knowledge Management aspects.
